Welcome to the CascoBay UkeFest website set up today.  We are also on Facebook at this address.

Stay tuned for details as we finalize them.  At this point, however, you can count on the following:

WHAT:  The First Annual CascoBay UkeFest, a First Friday event

WHEN:  Friday, July 3, from 2:00 to 8:00

WHERE:  The front lawn of St. Luke’s Cathedral at 143 State Street in Portland

WHO:  Anyone who wants to learn to play a ukulele, who has just started playing, or who has been playing for years

WHY:  The Falmouth Library Ukulele Society (FLUKES), the Peaks Island Ukuleles, and the Urban Ukuleles (UU’s) invite you to join them for a fun afternoon and evening of being with like-minded ukulele fans.

From 2:00 until 5:00, there’ll be a workshop for beginners starting at 2:00, a tabbing workshop at 3:00, and a strumming workshop at 4:00.

From 5:00 to 6:00, there’ll be pizza, salad, and dessert for sale.

Starting around 6:00, you or your ukulele group can perform for everyone or just soak up all the fun. If you’d like to sign up to perform or would like more information,  please contact Lee Urban at leeurban@me.com.

Around 7:30, we’ll gather to sing and strum some familiar songs that use only two or three easy chords.

Please stay tuned for more details as we get closer to July 3. This will all be great fun!

And if it rains, we’ll simply shuffle into the Cathedral where the space is huge and beautiful and dry. Thanks go to St. Luke’s Cathedral for providing the venue as part of its ongoing offering of First Friday events for the Summer.
